An annual tradition since 2005.

Seedy Saturdays, hosted by communities all over Canada, bring gardeners together in the midst of our long winter. There are opportunities to purchase and swap garden seeds, and to learn about seed saving, composting and other garden skills. Most important of all, it is an opportunity to network with other gardeners.

Featuring:

  • Cold Climate Seed Library
  • Wildrose Heritage Seeds from Lethbridge
  • East Kootenay Invasive Species Council (EKISC)
  • Info on composting, seed saving, & more
  • Keeping Food Real cold climate gardening education
  • Seeds of Diversity Canada
  • Wildsight Elk Valley

Wildsight Elk Valley’s Community EcoGarden has hosted this event since 2005. Most seeds offered have come from plants grown in members’ gardens and at the EcoGarden itself.

Everyone is welcome. Bring along seeds from your own garden or just drop by to learn about local cold-climate gardening.

SEED SWAP
Seeds are available for sale or to swap. Bring seeds you have grown and swap with other local gardeners OR take whatever seeds you'd like to plant (a small cash donation appreciated). Plants adapt to the region they grow in. Locally grown seeds thrive in Fernie’s unique, cold climate growing conditions.
